This is the story of my tracking to ‘Yamunotri’ in Uttarakhand, India during October, 2018 |
- I am at home ready with everything for the trip and waiting for Raghvendra
- Started driving towards Muradnagar Ganga canal, will be using it to drive towards Muzaffarnagar
- Soon we were on the canal road, which is entirely traffic less, making us cruise faster towards our destination
- Arrived at NH58 crossing at Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar. Next stop is Saharanpur
- Took the newly constructed highway but encountered the famous fog of our region
- Carefully steered through the wide highway and passed Deoband
- Arrived on the Saharanpur to Chhutmalpur road, taken the road towards Shakumbhari devi
- Finally arrived at the Hathni Kund barrage, located on the Yamuna river in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana state
- Stopped here and took some pictures
- Passing through beautiful scenic road of Kalesar National Park
- Finally arrived at Paonta Sahib town, Himachal Pradesh. This is the place where we will spend some time to attend a friends marriage
- Its 9:30 AM and our plan is to stay here untill lunch, before starting again towards Yamunotri
- Finally at around 2:15 we are free from celebrations and now driving again towards hills
- Stopped at one place to change our clothes to suite the colder climate
- Its almost 8PM and we are few kilometers away from our destination
- Finally we are stopped by the police at Syana Chatti and asked us to halt and avoid going beyond the point
- We stayed at a small hotel before eating at small shack, run by a old lady and her husband
- Decided to restart again at 5 o’clock to quickly start climbing towards Yamunotri temple
- We slept perfectly and woke up at 4 o’clock. Drove untill Janki Chatti, which was just 18 kms from us
- Exactly at 5:30, we started hiking towards Yamunotri temple
- Initial 3 kms hike was steep but later it was easier to walk. Track is narrow and slightly difficult
- Finally after 3 hours of hike, we arrived at the Yamunotri temple
- At Yamunotri temple, there is a natural stream of hot water, very refreshing and rejuvenating
- Near by the Yamunotri temple, the small stream of river Yamuna flows
- After the rituals and staying for an hour, we started tracking back to our place of start
- It was exactly 12:30 PM and local people are amazed to see how soon we tracked the distance
- At the parking, we ate something and restarted driving again towards Dehradun
- Stopped at some places here and there on our way back and took some pictures
- Finally arrived at Dehradun and decided to stay for the night
- Its early morning and we are driving towards Rishikesh. This is so beautiful to ride through nature early morning
